Former Alabama linebacker Keanu Koht shared a statement on social media shortly after announcing his entry into the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who has been a part of my journey at the University of Alabama—my coaches, staff, teammates, and supporters,” Koht shared. “The lessons I’ve learned, the bonds I’ve formed, and the experiences I’ve had here are invaluable, and they will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
“After much thought and reflection, I’ve come to understand that I’ve outgrown the role I once held here. With this in mind, I have decided to enter the transfer portal, with two years of eligibility remaining. This was not an easy decision, but I believe it is the right step for my future and personal development.”
“To the Alabama community, thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement during my time here. The wisdom, values, and experiences I’ve gained will always stay with me as I move forward,” Koht expressed in his statement.
Keanu Koht joined Alabama in 2021 and primarily contributed as a reserve linebacker for the Crimson Tide. Over his four seasons, he appeared in 14 games, recording nine total tackles, three tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery.
Before entering the transfer portal, Koht had been suspended by head coach Kalen DeBoer for undisclosed reasons.
Koht becomes the second Alabama player to enter the transfer portal this season, following former defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis, who made his decision last month.
