“First away win of the season! I’m pleased with the three points and back-to-back victories.
The first half was poor—the worst since I’ve been at Hermannstadt. I told the boys as much. There was no intensity, and our opponents had a much better attitude. We lost possession too often, which gave them confidence and allowed them to score,” Marius Măldărășanu said, as quoted by digisport.ro.
“You can never truly relax. Peace only lasts for one evening. If we were higher in the standings, we’d aim for even more. But after six defeats, securing consecutive wins is a relief.”
The FC Hermannstadt coach reflected on how the team managed to turn around their recent struggles.
“I’m glad we played completely differently in the second half. We applied pressure, and the opponents couldn’t create chances. Those were three hard-earned points.
What I told the team at halftime isn’t as important as their attitude. Without pushing through the wings, it’s impossible to keep the opponents away from your goal. The attitude we showed in the match against U Cluj (2-1 win) must serve as a benchmark.
Balaure’s goal earned us the win, and I’m happy for him. Everything that happened today worked in our favor,” Măldărășanu added.
Looking ahead, Hermannstadt will host Farul Constanța in the second round of the Romanian Cup group stage. Măldărășanu outlined the team’s objectives:
“Our goal in the Romanian Cup is to advance from the groups. We’ll take the match seriously, even with some changes in the lineup. Beating Farul would be fantastic, and we’re aiming for a win,” Măldărășanu concluded.
The game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, at 17:00. Hermannstadt previously won their opening Group C match 2-1 against Unirea Ungheni.
