BREAKING NEWS: Former Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy is attracting interest from teams across the NFL, including the Chicago Bears.

A week ago, it was reported that the Chicago Bears were considering interviewing former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy for their head coach position. However, since McCarthy was still under contract with the Dallas Cowboys, the Bears had to seek permission from the Cowboys to speak with him. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones denied that request.

This led to speculation that McCarthy might return to Dallas under a new contract. However, it was announced today that McCarthy and Jones have mutually agreed to part ways. In a public statement, Jones expressed appreciation for McCarthy’s work, saying, “Throughout Mike McCarthy’s tenure here, including the last several weeks, I have been very complimentary of the job he has done. That has applied to our record over that time period, our team unity and culture, Mike’s qualifications and track record of success, and on a personal level as a tremendous human being. I have great respect for Mike, and he has led the team through some very unique and challenging times during his tenure.”

Jones also mentioned, “Prior to reaching the point of contract negotiations, though, it became mutually clear that it would be better for each of us to head in a different direction.”
