Eagles Trade For Maxx Crosby Dream Ends with Raiders Move
There is a blockbuster signing, as Maxx Crosby – who as of Tuesday was under contract for two more years – now has himself another three-year extension. But not with the Eagles.
It was fun while is lasted. But it only lasted about 24 hours.
Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby on Tuesday set the internet on fire as he posted a quote saying “Life Is Beautiful” and then inserted an emoji of an eagle.
Was he referring to the Philadelphia Eagles? What else? Who else? Right?
There had been plenty of trade rumors circulating around the league involving Crosby, but despite all of the Raiders’ failures in recent years, he has always remained relatively and never asked for a trade.
So this felt like some sort of cryptic message that he wanted to be traded to Philly.
And maybe it was.
But there will be no blockbuster trade.
Instead, there is a blockbuster signing, as Crosby – who as of Tuesday was under contract for two more years, having signed a four-year, $94 million extension in 2022 – now has himself another three-year extension.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero recently reported that Maxx’s future with the team was “up in the air.”
But Crosby – who would be attractive to any team as he is still only 27 years of age and is considered one of the best defensive ends in the league – is no longer up in the air with his Eagle emoji.
Instead, he’s a Raider, working under new coach Pete Carroll in trying to turn around a bad Las Vegas program.
This does not end the Philly search for another big move, of course. The Saquon Barkley deal of a year ago put the NFL on alert … in a way that means the end of Maxx gossip will only heighten the amount of Myles Garrett gossip.
