Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm, along with others, have arrived in town. Despite losing Linus Ullmark to the Senators, the team remains highly competitive, still boasting one of the league’s top goalies, Jeremy Swayman.
However, things have taken a rough turn for Swayman, who remains a restricted free agent. According to *Hockey Feed*, negotiations are going poorly.
The situation is so dire that the Bruins have reportedly stopped all communication with Swayman.
As per Ryan Whitney from *Spittin’ Chiclets*, Boston hasn’t reached out to Swayman or responded to his calls for the past three weeks. It’s not looking good…
The two sides are still far from reaching a deal, with Whitney, a highly trusted source, reporting that the team has offered a 4-year contract worth $6.2 million annually.
This offer is significantly lower than the $9.5 million over eight years Swayman’s camp is asking for, which mirrors the deal given to the team’s top defenseman, Charlie McAvoy.
In fact, a few years back, radio host Rich Keefe claimed that Swayman was seeking $10 million per year.
That’s a huge sum. Among active NHL goalies, only Sergei Bobrovsky is making $10 million or more. Andrei Vasilevskiy earns $9.5 million, Connor Hellebuyck $8.5 million, and Carey Price, who is no longer active, had a salary of $10.5 million.
Will Boston and Swayman reach an agreement before the season kicks off? Time is running out…
You know the @nhl season is right around the corner when…
