Former Xavier Forward Dailyn Swain Commits to Texas Over Ohio State
A Columbus native and Africentric graduate who was a top-100 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, Swain was offered by Ohio State out of high school but the 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward picked the Musketeers over the Buckeyes, Arkansas, Arizona State and Clemson.
Swain made 36 starts and appeared in 63 games across two seasons at Xavier. In 2024-25, he started in 33 of 34 games and averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and a team-high 1.6 steals. Swain helped bring the

Musketeers to the NCAA Tournament, where Xavier defeated Texas in the First Four before losing to Illinois in the Round of 64. He had 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over the Longhorns and had a career-high 27 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in the loss to the Illini.
Given his Columbus roots, Ohio State was viewed as a potential frontrunner for Swain when he entered the transfer portal, with Devin Royal and other Ohio State players taking to social media in an effort to recruit Swain to the Buckeyes. A source told Eleven Warriors’ Josh Poloha, however, that Swain did not reciprocate Ohio State’s interest in him, as he ultimately decided not to take a visit to the Buckeyes.
With Swain off the board, remaining transfer targets for the Buckeyes include guards Jalil Bethea (Miami) and Jonathan Powell (West Virginia) and forwards Nick Davidson (Nevada), Colby Duggan (Campbell) and Bryan Etumnu (Merrimack), among others. (Update: Jonathan Powell committed to North Carolina on Tuesday night.)
