The Denver Broncos will need to make adjustments on their offensive line to protect rookie first-round quarterback Bo Nix, who has already faced challenges with sacks in his first two games. Now, Nix will be without one of his key tackles for the next month.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Broncos offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey suffered a significant MCL sprain and is expected to be out for around a month. Garafolo noted that the exact timeline could change as evaluations continue.
Mike Klis of 9News confirmed the report, adding that McGlinchey was injured late in the Broncos’ 13-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury occurred with just over two minutes left in the game, when McGlinchey was blocking Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt. He was inadvertently rolled up from behind by teammate Garett Bolles and his defender.
McGlinchey had been a strong supporter of Nix, making his absence even more impactful. He played every regular-season game for the 49ers in 2022 and missed just one game in his first season with the Broncos in 2023. McGlinchey is in the second year of a five-year, $87.5 million contract, which the Broncos restructured in March to free up cap space.
